Historic Renovation, Ponsonby

Extension

A historic renovation and extension to a Ponsonby home built in 1909

This project, designed by Stephen Jones Architects, involved the challenging task of propping and excavating beneath an existing dwelling that dates back to 1909.  Due to the nature of the building’s age and historic significance, meticulous planning and careful execution was required to ensure the structure’s integrity was maintained throughout the process.  The work took 18 months to complete, during which we carefully refurbished and extended the property adding new roofs, chimney, bathroom, kitchen, additional living space and block retaining walls.  Our team took great care to manage the delicate balance between maintaining the building’s heritage and making necessary updates to enhance both its functionality and aesthetics.

Our capable team is well-versed in the complexities of working with older structures, ensuring that your project is completed efficiently, safely, and with a deep respect for the history of the building.  If you have a build that requires propping and excavating under an existing structure or require work to be done on a historic building we would love to assist.

"I am pleased to recommend Zane Broadbelt as a Certified Master Builder. Zane has spent the past 18 months working on my house and has been instrumental in transforming it into a spectacular family home. From my experience, Zane’s greatest asset was the level of communication that he maintained with me throughout the project. I appreciated that he asked me to clarify details and kept me informed of the work as it progressed. This open communication significantly contributed to the success of the work and the result is a home that I can be proud of."
